Hello everyone,

During the holy month of Ramadan, the zlabia is always present on our tables. The zlabia this pretty well golden sweets fried in a very hot oil then deceived in homemade honey. No one can abstain and resist this delight.

Today my friend Wamani Merou liked to share with us one of the varieties of Zlabia, Zlabia el banana, or saba3 la3roussa, or honey churros. But to be sharper, the zlabia el banana does not look too much like churros in texture. The churros are donuts, while the zlabia el banana has a very crispy texture on the outside and melts in the middle, and with the honey that coats it, this delicacy goes well with a well-scented mint tea for a Ramadan evening.

Preparation time 15 min

Cooking time 15 min

Total time 30 min

  • 2 glasses of water
  • 1/4 glass of oil
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 vs a tablespoon of honey
  • 1 vanilla bag
  • 2 glass and a half of flour
  • oil for frying
  • homemade honey to coat it
  • crushed peanuts for garnish optional
  • place the water, oil, salt and honey in a saucepan over low heat.

  • when the mixture is homogeneous, introduce the flour in rain and the vanilla.

  • mix on low heat to have a nice malleable dough that stands out well from the sides of the pan,

  • place the dough while it is hot in a piping bag and form sausages of almost 12 cm.

  • let the sausages cool before you start frying.

  • coat the zlabia el banana directly in warm honey while hot.

  • Sprinkle some crushed peanuts on top.
