Here is a delicious zucchini gratin which I often prepare when I have a small amount of minced meat and cannot make a stuffed zucchini dish.

In addition, this dish is an ideal meal idea for the family evening dinner. This gratin is prepared with vegetables steamed very tender in the mouth without bechamel sauce.

I’m not going to lie to you and say that this gratin is light or low in calories, because personally I really like a gratin made with fresh cream and sometimes a lot of cheese, yes…. That’s a good gratin in my opinion.

A gourmet zucchini gratin?

This zucchini gratin recipe is super easy to make, and I like to use medium long zucchini and cut them into small cubes.

I don’t make large cubes so that all the flavors soak in well, and especially so that my children don’t detect the large pieces of zucchini.

By the way, I add potatoes to camouflage them well and I steam them.

At home, only me and my youngest love zucchini, so sometimes you have to be cunning to introduce vegetables to children.

I was also a difficult child when I was little, but I had no problem with zucchini, hihihihi!

After the preparation and cooking of the well-seasoned minced meat, it is introduced with the vegetables, the eggs and liquid cream are added on top, and a passage in the oven with a layer of grated cheese on top to brown well.

This dish is just delicious!

Sometimes I prepare this same recipe with just a little more milk or liquid cream, and I use it as a filling for a quiche or a savory pie on a puff pastry or a savory pie crust, and it goes better for my children, a real treat.

Ingredients for the zucchini and minced meat gratin:

Zucchini, green and long and not the round and large ones which contain large seeds. Choose crunchy zucchini.

Minced meat, it is preferable to use beef, which is less fatty and very delicious. But that doesn’t prevent you from adding minced lamb.

How to prepare zucchini gratin?

– Peel the courgettes, cut them into cubes,

– Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes too, and put the two vegetables to steam with a little salt

– Once the zucchini and potatoes are steamed, let them drain well.

– Fry the crushed garlic and the finely chopped onion with a tablespoon of oil, add the minced meat, salt, pepper, and chopped parsley, cook.

– Put the cooked minced meat in a salad bowl, add the steamed vegetables,

– Add the cream and the beaten eggs to the omelet, check the seasoning, add the grated cheese, and mix well.

– Pour everything into a lightly buttered gratin dish,

– Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees, for almost 20 minutes, or until you have a nice golden color of the gratin.

– To know that your gratin is cooked, insert the tip of a knife into your gratin if it comes out dry, your dish is ready.

– Serve hot or warm with a good salad.
